Kids CBC

This week I took Molly to the Jack Singer Concert Hall for the Kid's CBC show featuring Molly's favourites: Curious George and Bo on the Go. What a great way to spend an afternoon! Molly was so great. The Get Set for Life folks had all sorts of play centres set up for the kids before the show. Molly made friends with some older kids (7 and 9) from Taber that played and danced with her...too cute! We ran into Turner's mom and Sloaner there...small world. Sadly Sloane didn't recognize me.

Next week we've got a consult with a sleep specialist for children. Hopefully she'll have some ideas for us because I am exhausted...2 years of not sleeping through the night is more than enough.

Easter with the Small-Nivens

What a fabulous, busy, fun weekend we had. Nancy and Roth brought Scarlett and Magnus for the weekend. On Good Friday, we went to the Zoo and then went to Gracie's to paint eggs and have a pizza party! On Saturday, we went to butterfield acres for an easter egg hunt. We cooked a fabulous Easter dinner for everyone...and by we I mean Noel. And on Sunday we cooked waffles and bacon for Nancy, Roth and the kids.

Molly and Scarlett played so well together. I could just eat them both up...they are just so cute!! They were giving each other hugs and holding hands. I still can't believe we have kids - let alone kids that are so damn great!

Last night we had Noel's family over for dinner. Adam and Jess are so great with Molly. She just lights up whenever they are around.

Molly's language is really, really coming along. She's singing songs now and full sentences. It's always hard for me to drop her off at Suzanne's after such a great weekend.

It's been a long time coming

Part of the reason I've been so lax in updating the blog is because we've been caught up in a renovation disaster that's been monopolizing most of my time and energy - not doing the work but trying to get the contractor to do the work properly. It's taken 6 months (the job was quoted at 15 working days) but we finally got our basement back Saturday morning. Kit was here until midnight Friday night (this was 2 days past the DROP DROP DEAD DEADLINE) but he finally got it done. Noel went to Ikea today and got some modular storage bins for in the laundry room and it was so great to start moving our stuff back into the house. It'll take us a couple of weeks at least to figure out the best use of the storage space and to bring in all our stuff from the garage but so far things are great. It'll just be so nice to come home to an empty house. And to not have so much of my time and energy eaten up with stressful emails and phone calls. Molly helped me clean the shelves, doors and walls yesterday. She really is so great. In the next couple of weeks we're going to be talking to a children's sleep specialist and then hopefully moving her into a big-girl bed. Thanks to my mom her room is going to be fabulous. I ordered her bed, night table and dresser last week but it'll be a couple of months before we get them. We're going to put Molly on my old double bed mattress on the floor at first and then move the mattress onto the frame once she's used to all the space. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It's hard for me not to pull an allnighter to just get everything moved in and get the basement exactly the way I want it but then I remember that we've waited this long...another couple of weeks isn't going to matter. I'll take some photos once things are all in place. Thank you to everyone who has had to put up with my stress and constant complaining.

Molly celebrates turning two with a birthday tour

First stop of the birthday tour was Ottawa where we celebrated with cousins Ryan and Amy (and their daughter Katie), Grandma and Grandpa Flatters, and Uncle Dave and Aunt Heather. I'm happy to report that while Molly was given a piece of chocolate cake she took two bites and then walked away (if only her mom had the same willpower!).

Next event on the tour was a celebration of Molly's actual day of birth with Grandma Cookie, Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Andrew. I took the day off work so that I could take Molly to the park, the zoo and hang out with Grandma Cookie. It was so great. I'll have to post the photos later.

And last but certainly not least, we had the 'friend' birthday party at Gymaniacs in Cochrane. So fun. For this birthday extravaganza we had an ice cream cake from DQ - and Molly dug into that with abandon.
