Molly and Noel's Special Adventure

Noel and Molly took a father/daughter trip to Ottawa to help celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Flatters' 65th Anniversary. This was the first time they'd gone away together...and my first time alone for a long weekend in our house. All in all the trip was a success. The transition back home was a bit painful but Molly seems to be getting back on track with sleeping and whatnot now (a week and a half later).

What a face!

Ahh. Sweet girls' weekend. Full of long chats, delicious food, laughs and thankfully for me lots of uninterrupted sleep. We were so lucky to get a deal through Nancy's work for a room at the Cove. It was brilliant. Sadly we didn't get to lawn bowl. But other than that the weekend was perfect.

Swimming Success

I've recently enrolled Molly in swimming lessons. She hasn't been in an indoor pool since she was about 8 months old. A lot of the kids in her dayhome have been taking lessons so she really wanted to give it a try. When I called, they said kids over three had to go into un-parented lessons - uh oh! I knew we were in for trouble but part of me thought she might be okay. She was a star with starting her dance lessons and starting at her preschool...maybe swimming would be the same. NO SUCH LUCK! The first lesson was an absolute disaster. It was horrible sitting by and watching her little face melt into hysterical tears as she was splashed by the teacher and other kids. The second lesson went a bit better...she didn't get in the pool but she also didn't cry the entire class. Then Noel and I took her to the pool on our own this past weekend and it was GREAT! She was hesitant at first. But by the end of our time in the pool she was splashing and playing and blowing bubbles with her face in the water. PROGRESS!!! I hope she can keep it up for the lesson this weekend.
