Happy Canada Day

Today is one of the days in the year that I really miss being in Ontario. Canada Day always meant good weather, good music, good times. We still haven't found our 'thing' to do to celebrate Canada Day. In NF there's the sunrise ceremony on Signal Hill. In Ontario, there was always a festival to go to and fireworks that didn't have to start at 11 pm. Our day started off hopeful with a family trip to Denny's for breakfast. Then we headed to Calaway Park for some midway fun. But as usual, Calgary's insane weather got the best of us. Silly us, we forgot to bring our parkas to the park. At least it didn't snow this year. GRRRRRRR.

In other news, Jake is working on cutting his 6th tooth. He has learned to crawl and then sit without any help from us. He's playing more and more with his walker (even though he continues to take giant falls when he uses it). We got a baby swing for the backyard play structure and he and Molly love swinging together. Molly's drawing is really progressing right now. Her people have dimension. Her trees look like trees. And she's figured out how to draw a decent fish. She slept 19/30 days in June. Not bad considering Noel was away for a bit and she had some huge changes at her dayhome to contend with. This month I'll be keeping her home more (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and she's got 2 weeks of swimming lessons coming up. And Stampede is only a week and a bit away. Fun fun fun. Let's just hope the weather improves so we can actually get out an enjoy ourselves!
