Rock Band!
One of our favourite games to play recently is pretend rock band. I play the MC/announcer. Molly and Jake pick instruments to play. I count them in and it's time for them to jam! So much fun.
Why not go to a book launch for Adam
4 days in Hamilton
I know, I know...This post is way overdue. But anyhoo....We had a great trip to Hamilton this summer. It was great to let go of any expectations around sleep and just make the most of our days by not trying to do too much of anything at all. We enjoyed visiting with Mom and Dad...aunt Barb and uncle Norm...Ang, Derek and Elliot...Lori. We enjoyed the hot weather and the pool. We ate well. We relaxed. We even took the kids to the Stoney Creek Dairy. The best part of the trip was that when it was over Molly actually asked when we could go back. SUCCESS!!!

Summer visit to the Ranch
Our first weekend of summer holidays, we were lucky to be invited to spend the day at Lauren and Matt's family ranch south of Calgary. Molly loves horses (which I still find strange since she's terrified of dogs and cats) and was super excited to have a day to ride in the country. And what a beautiful day we had. Matt took Molly and Noel out in the ranger to round up the horses. Then Molly got to ride 2 or 3 different horses over the course of the day. She rode on a blanket saddle, a leather saddle and even got to sit on one horse bareback. She was in heaven. We were in heaven too. Lauren's family cabin is just beautiful and comfortable and cozy and friendly and the perfect place to relax. It was definitely the perfect start to this year's summer vacation.

First Steps
Another milestone in Jake's life has come and gone. Yesterday he took his first steps. He walked from my leg to the couch. Today he gave us a couple of encore performances just to convince us that it wasn't a fluke after all. I missed Molly's first steps. They happened long after I went back to work. I was afraid I'd miss Jake's as well as my return to work approached with no sign of progress on that front. And then, just days before I head back to Karo - BOOM - he gives me the experience I was hoping for. What a good boy!
