Adventures in Calgary

Yesterday was my birthday. I used to make such a big deal about my birthday - probably because I didn't want to get lost in the pre-Christmas rush. This year it just didn't seem very important at all. I had a pretty low key day and that was just perfect. Some of the folks from work took me out for lunch...neighbours came over to watch me unwrap some presents from home...the Rapper went out for "The Chalet" with us...Noel's sister called from NM...his mom called...my parents called...I got great emails from the Newfs and Jenn...

It was so different from what I've wanted every other year but it was exactly what I wanted this year. It just goes to show how much things are beginning to change in my life already. Part of me is sad about the lack of interest in partying/dancing and general wildness...the other is happiest when Noel and I are able to take some time to sit down and dream about our new family. I guess that's just what growing up is all about. Like Tania (our doula) says...you just have to find the beauty in every new situation you're in.
